What NYCHA says

“Returned” can mean more than one thing.

Current NYCHA-related guidance describes an additional-information stage where issues such as missing documents, missing signatures and rent reasonableness can be addressed. If issues cannot be resolved, a rental package may be rejected. Your actual notice or Owner Extranet status should control what you do next.

Missing or incomplete paperwork

Compare the request against the packet checklist and the documents actually submitted. Do not assume every property has the same supporting-document requirements.

Signature or approval issue

Check the RFTA, lease and lead disclosure as applicable, and confirm the voucher holder completed any required online review/approval step.

Rent reasonableness issue

Keep this separate from a missing-document problem. NYCHA reviews proposed rent against comparable unassisted units and may require a response or amended rent documentation.

Do not resubmit blindly. First identify what NYCHA actually requested, correct that issue, and preserve a copy of the response and submission date for your records.
